In 2013 she signed her first contract with Tap Management they paid her to focus on music instead of working in bars. As the first step of her journey, Dua came into modeling to know about the music industry and make some contacts with persons related to it. Later Dua moved to Kosovo with her parents but she wanted to pursue music as a career, so she returned to England and started working in multiple places. Her mother is involved in the tourism industry. Her father, Dukagjin Lipa, is also a singer in a rock band of Kosovo. Dua grew up there with an urge to hip hop music.
Formerly their parents lived in Kosovo from where they shifted to Westminster, England.
